Another crazy weekend

Yet, another fast, fun, and festive weekend for the Medina familia. Caleb having to spend the night at coaches house Friday night just so he can have a ride to his 8am bball game...Joseph is at a Boy Scout overnighter. And Maddy having a soccer tourney, starting at 8:30am at Red Mountain Sports Complex. With the little ones having to get up so early in the morning, it's a wonder we make it anywhere on time...or do we?!?!?!?!

Caleb's team played hard in their game, but fell short by 8 points, playing guys much bigger than them...which is hard to do with Caleb. One player wouldn't even reveal his age after the game....hhhmmmmmmm. I still haven't been able to see Caleb play because of his and Maddy's schedules, but at least Dad gets to go and cheer him on. Dad is constantly working and playing with Caleb, practicing his rebounding and shots. It's hard to see it at age 9, but one day Caleb will see what a great dad Joseph is and how much time he spends with his "best friend."

Barza's first game started out real rough, playing a top Nevada U9 team, who were much bigger than them. Although, since her team is playing up (2 years for some of them), it's hard not to be bigger than the little 7 year olds out there... Grandma has a hard time watching because she doesn't want anyone pushing her little Maddy around. We keep telling Grandma, her little Maddy does her own share of rough playing too :).

Barza came back at the 1pm game and played very tough, but still falling short 1-2 against the #1 U9 AZ team (Sereno from Scottsdale).

After the Saturday games, the Barza family stayed after, with the Maddio's motorhome and had a BBQ at the park. The kids and adults had a blast, shutting the park down 4 hours later.
Sunday they came out on fire and ready to play, defeating Del Sol and Arsenal, finishing the tourney 2-2. I was very proud of Maddy's play and how she continues to improve and amaze me. Everyone constantly tells us they have NEVER seen a girl her age with such great dribbling skills. Mom is so proud of her and her hard work!
Maddy really enjoys playing with these girls, on the field and off. They finished the long weekend with a slumber party at the Self's house, and all of them got along so well and had such fun. Maddy was the first to crash, and the last to wake up...that's my girl...loves her sleep!
To add to the excitement during the fiascal of a weekend, in between Maddy's games, we picked up a new addition to our family.
I am pleased to introduce Bella. Our teacup Poodle is 9 weeks old and our new pride and joy. (Heads up to all those mothers out there still having children...this is what happens when you finally stop having them but still need to fill that void). Puppies are a lot of work, but she is so cute and fun to have around. We're just hoping and praying that she stays healthy...and survives Jacob :)

Fun Filled Weekend

This weekend was a very crazy and fun weekend...for the kids. It started out with a basketball game for Caleb at 8am. Then straight to 2 soccer games for Maddy. Then immediately heading for the LeBaron's Strawberry Cabin (if you want to call it a Cabin...more like a luxury home). I didn't get to see Caleb's game...Dad took him...because I was home with the babies and getting Maddy ready for her games. Although Dad said Caleb played well. He's definitely a strength and solid body on defense. They did however lose by 8 points. Maddy's first game went well. Not including Maddy getting nailed and knocked to the ground right before half-time, she did quite well. Dad keeps telling her it's part of the game and it will only make her tougher :). She's slowly getting used to it. They are both so fun to watch and will bring Joseph and I many exciting and enjoyable years to come.

Their first game ended in a tie, but should have been a Victory. Their 2nd game; however, was a little tougher only because they did not show up to play. Barza was definitely the better team but just didn't show it today. We'll get 'em next time.

Then immediately after the game it was off to Strawberry to hang with the family. Hollin, Ryan, and families, and Grandma and PopPop all met at the LeBaron cabin for some weekend fun...and snow. The huge game room was a definite hit, if they weren't sliding on the ice or eating snowballs. The kids had fun at the meadow across from the cabin,
making their own small sledding area (kids will make fun anywhere...).
Then it was off to the Gravel Pit for the serious sledding. Of course the boys picked the slope with a jump in it, so everyone of them bit the dust (or should I say snow) just about everytime they went down. But it was still OH SO FUN!

Abby, Taryn, and Jacob went to the small hill and took turns helping eachother into the disc and pushing eachother down.

Maddy must have went down the most in the shortest amount of time. Up and down, and up and down...as many as she could do before her feet got so cold that she sat down in the snow and took off her shoes and socks right there. Helloooooo...you still have to get to the car Madelyn...The boys showed No Fear and continued to "bite it" down the big hill, with Caleb and Uncle Ryan catching some serious air time... Joseph and I braved the hill before leaving...I'm happy to say that I was the only one that didn't "bite it."
But my favorite had to be PopPop, age 68 being a big kid at heart and having the time of his life...
and of course, biting it too.... All in all, we had a great time in the snow and spending time with family. These are times we'll remember for many years to come.

Happy New Year!

Here we go into 2008 full speed ahead. Kids back to school, Maddy playing club soccer, Caleb playing basketball, both in piano lessons, Caleb in CubScouts...and me trying to blog and keep up with them...just go go go! But all of it so fun and so worth it.
We just spent the last week of Christmas break visiting Disneyland, with Grandma and PopPop joining us to see Mickey. It was pretty busy but worth seeing Disneyland decorated for the season, seeing it snow (snow machines off the roofs), being able to celebrate New Years Eve there, and just being in the Holiday spirit at the "Happiest Place on Earth." Definitely worth doing once in a lifetime...the weather was perfect, the kids were (almost) perfect...ha, Disneyland was perfect, a perfect week to end 2007!

Maddy's favorite ride hands down is Matterhorn. Caleb loves Splash Mountain and Indiana Jones. Dad, Abby Jacob, and Grandma all love Pirates. And Mom and PopPop's favorite is Souring over California...which Abby asked me during the whole ride..."Mom, are we weawy (really) outside, are we weawy outside." One of the kodak moments, was when Abby fell asleep in the stroller, and Maddy and Jacob decided to feed her Cheetos. Abby, sound asleep got into a rythym with her cheetos, so when Jacob wasn't feeding her fast enough, Abby started eating the air, then her pin landyard, then her sweatshirt...all sound alseep! It was the cutest and funniest thing ever. I wish I would have had it on video...it would have won the Funniest Home Video's $10,000 grand prize...
